Mezza House in High Wycombe is a restaurant that leans into its Middle Eastern roots with a focus on sharing plates and rich, well-seasoned grilled meats. Situated on Church Street, it offers a relaxed dining spot where locals and visitors who appreciate authentic Levantine flavours gather for full meals rather than quick bites.

The atmosphere here feels warm and welcoming without feeling overly formal. The space suits groups who want to share a variety of dishes, making it a popular choice for casual dinners where the menu can be explored over conversation. The menu’s highlights — like the Mix Grill, Sheesh Kebab, and the variety of cold and hot mezzes such as hummus, babaganoush, and falafel — reflect a classic approach to Middle Eastern dining, emphasizing freshness and balance.

Visitors often come with a bit of familiarity with the cuisine or at least an openness to trying well-crafted traditional dishes. The signature mixed platters are a common order, praised for their tender meat and depth of flavour, which often results in takeaway containers due to generous portion sizes. Vegetarian options like grilled halloumi, falafel, and a broad selection of mezze make it inclusive and appealing for mixed groups.

From what locals share, the kitchen takes care to maintain authenticity — the pickled salads and fresh juices add refreshing counterpoints to the hearty mains. Service tends to be personable, with the head chef and owner contributing to a friendly, attentive dining experience. Guests report that this is a place where a takeaway order can feel just as thoughtfully prepared as a dine-in meal.

It’s worth noting that Mezza House operates as a cash-only establishment, so planning ahead is wise. Its location in High Wycombe means it fits well as a dinner destination rather than a daytime café stop, perfect for evenings when you want to linger over food that’s robust but not overly heavy.

Best suited for:

  • Groups or families looking to share a variety of Middle Eastern grilled and mezze dishes
  • Those with some familiarity or curiosity towards authentic Levantine flavours
  • Evening meals when a relaxed, low-key atmosphere suits winding down
  • Anyone who appreciates generous portions and home-style touches in their dining experience

We always eat here when we come to High Wycombe. Having lived in the Middle East for a few years we really appreciate the quality of the food - as well as the very warm welcome from the Head Chef. We usually share a mixed platter which is always great - tender, moist and full of flavour and we often end up taking some home, even though we really do our best to get through it! And here's the kicker - if you like coffee - they do the best coffee in High Wycombe! But, you have to ask the chef to make you a Lebanese coffee - and he'll be happy to disappear out the back and make you one personally. (My tip: call him "habibi" (honourable friend/gentleman in Arabic!). Note: One word of warning, being authentic they don't serve alcohol, but their fresh juices are great.

Fantastic food and service. We came here for dinner and we were not disappointed! All the meat was cooked beautifully and had so much flavour. The falafel was home made and the salad was fresh.

Ordered for take out. The food was excellent. Its been 5 years since I've had quality Babaganoush and this restaurant's has officially become the one with best houmous and babaganoush. Meat was very nice - my wife and 1 year old really enjoyed the rice and mixed grill. The pickled Salad was authentic! Order for collection than ordering from deliveroo. Owner was very nice , made us felt welcomed and a complete gentleman

Really great food. Ate here with friends for dinner. I had the shawarma plate with rice which was delicious. Other friends had wraps and the mixed grill which all looked great here too. One warning - cash only!

Ate at this surprisingly good little restaurant yesterday whilst on a shopping trip in the town. The welcome and service received was friendly and helpful and the food was, in my opinion, superb. The Shish Taouk was delicious; the chicken lovely and tender and the salad clearly fresh and not some old or rehashed, soggy affair so often passed off with a meal. My partner had a Chicken Shawarma which she also very much enjoyed. The only minor negative was they only took cash 'today' which meant a quick trip to the cash machine next door - there was no mention of this when we arrived and ordered. Other than that, the food, atmosphere and service was all 5* and highly recommended. We will be back, I'm sure.

Had an absolutely stellar meal here. Beautiful vegan platter and also sausages if you are less vegan. Happy and full!
